What is a Privacy Paradox?
According to IAPP official CIPT text book page number 180 Privacy paradox is defined as the contradiction of people being overly concerned and complaining about data practices while freely providing and sharing their personal information.
In other words, Privacy paradox refers to the phenomenon where people say they deeply care about their digital privacy and express concerns about data collection, but in real life, they often share personal information freely or do little to protect themselves online.
Why does this occur?
Convenience vs. Privacy: Many people trade privacy for convenience, access, discounts, or connection with others.
Lack of Awareness: Users may not fully understand what happens to their data or the risks involved.
Perceived Powerlessness: Some feel the users cannot control what companies do with their data.
Design & Default: Platforms sometimes make privacy protections hard to find or use by default.
Here is visual to understand this concept better
Personal Update:
I cleared my IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional AIGP certification exam.
While GenAI is a shiny new thing for many organizations, so is the governance of it - a shiny new thing.

Congratulations on your AIGP 🎊
